...before Santa Cruz Island of the Channel Islands National Park, California. The ferry out to Santa Cruz Island skimmed the shoreline, and returned to beautiful Ventura.

The fishing boats have returned from night's frenzied work, but the fishers must prepare again for the day's ferrying, repairs, and gossip. The beach bares some scars of the tsunami, and the skyline evinces colonialism perhaps not entirely gone: church bells compete with laughter, and the waves of three seas for the morning's attention.
Graham says goodbye to the crew as David shows off the new shirt that Graham gave him as a thank you for a great day.

The next morning, Carol, Toni, Graham and I hired a local fisherman to take us out to Margarite Island, a national park. They came for us around 6 in the morning.
One of the toy sailboats was made out of an old flip flop.
